IBC 2025 Day 2: Scientific symposium continues at BracU

The second day of the International Biotechnology Conference 2025 continued with more oral and poster presentations in fields of agricultural biotechnology, bioinformatics and biosensors. The enthusiasm among the participants was especially high as they poured into the auditorium for the second plenary session, which featured five eminent speakers hailing from reputable biotech-oriented startups. This session proved to be a unique learning experience for the participants in understanding the bridge between scientific breakthroughs and emerging start-up plans. Faiaz Ahmed Fahim (Sophomore, MNS) shared, “I have always had a keen interest in entrepreneurship for which today’s session really guided me on how to establish a connection between academia and industry.”

During an insightful conversation, panelist Dr. Nazmul Haque (Chief Scientist, Concord Stem Cell Ltd.), expressed how depression among young graduates shook him. Recognizing the potential of young minds, he was inspired to guide the youth through his start-up. When asked for his advice to students, he said, “We have to grow knowledge beyond the bookish world and make ourselves capable of giving back to our people.” Dr. Batool Almarzouq (Honorary Research Fellow, University of Liverpool), invited speaker of the computational biology session, emphasized the importance of transdisciplinary education, “Technology can be a tool to our problems, not the entire solution.”

This conference showcased outstanding research in biotechnology with flawless projects, and is also paving the way for aspiring scientists.” The ceremony ended with a closing speech from Dr. Munima Haque (Convener, IBC 2025 and Associate Professor, MNS), who encouraged active collaboration and networking in Biotechnology, as she urged keeping the spirit of unity alive in making a difference across this field altogether.
