“Rising Star 24” Day 3: turning games around
The slow morning soon picked up as the badminton matches of group stages for both males and females kept the audience on their toes. With matches taking place on all courts Group 2 of female badminton champion Samira Alam Sarah dominated the court like it was her turf and won the audience’s heart. Sagota Lagno took the crown of Group 4. Male Badminton Group 24 and 25 stole the show today as MD Asifur Rahman and Mohammad Shahidul won in each group stage respectively with MD. Mozahidul Islam and MD Monirul Islam emerged as the runner-ups. These could easily pass as the most exciting matches of the day as the audience held their breaths before frequently erupting in cheers and applause at the powerful shots. As it happens, Badminton was the center of attention of the day.
Flicking discs on a wooden board with competitors is a great way to foster rivalry and friendships. They are not mutually exclusive of course but it serves as seasoning for the more spicy parts of the tourney. Every other shot was met with anticipation and great banter. Group F held the most exciting match between Saikot Roy Opu and Hossain Md Arif with the match ending in Opu’s victory with 30-21. The game had excellent techniques accompanied by constant exclamations from the audience as they brewed different game plans on every board.
As the third day came to a close one could begin to feel the slow tension of the knockouts creeping up. The third installment is often the one that lulls people in with the usual shenanigans as it sows seeds to bear fruit in the knockouts. As the anticipation for knockout stages keeps the audience on the edge of their seats, the players are gearing up to give their best; the forecast shows a must-see knockout stage and we cannot wait for it.
