Urban games, primal entertainment

On December 2nd, BRAC University Indoor Sports Club (BUIGC) inaugurated the “Intra University Indoor Tournament”. Students enrolled in this tournament through social media or booths set in Prangon and the ground floor of Building 6.

There were three different sports in this tournament: Carrom, Table Tennis, and Badminton. All these sports were played in the categories of male singles, doubles; female singles, doubles; and mix-doubles. The tournament created a huge buzz in the university with more than 150 participants participating including alumni and faculty members.

Table Tennis and Carrom matches were played in the Indoor Games room. Badminton matches were played at Metroplex Sporting. “Since some of the matches were played late, BUIGC ensured the safety of female participants and their transportation,” said the club president, Asif Mehedi (Senior, CSE).

This tournament finished on December 18th with the Badminton male singles final; Sajid Asif (Sophomore, BBA) won this segment. Nowrin Humaira (Junior, BBA) and Junayed Hossain Siam (Freshman, CSE) were the winners of the Table Tennis mix-doubles and Syed Aiman (Sophomore, CSE) won the Carrom singles. This tournament was a huge success for the BUIGC, stated the club’s president.
